It’s an unashamedly indulgent post and we make no apologies for that. So, forget everything else and enjoy this mouthwatering little morsel…

Sweet treats are featuring more and more at weddings right now and we have to say that this is something we totally approve of. From dessert tables to seriously creative ideas, it seems everyone is in love with delectable delights so let’s dive in…

Current Trends

It’s not so long ago that sugared almonds were really the pinnacle of sweet excitement at weddings but oh, how things have changed. Now, these gorgeous treats also form quite the centrepiece. Think doughnut walls and gourmet ice cream trucks and anything that puts luxurious puds and pastries right at the forefront of your wedding.

The show-stopping dessert table is definitely proving to be a wedding winner at the moment and with good reason. Beautifully styled tables featuring a whole host of gorgeous desserts for guests to choose from? Oh yes please.

We’re also feeling the love for nostalgic treats too so old-school puddings are making a come back as are at-home favourites such as pancakes, crepes and waffles.

There’s also a big move to foodies experiences. With food trucks, waffle and popcorn tuk-tuks, cabs serving ice cream and bartenders mixing up the ultimate in indulgent milkshakes (plus a hint of alcohol for the adults), food is definitely taking centre stage and we’re all for that!

Wedding Sweet Treats Inspiration

Well, obviously Pinterest is a great place to start and there are endless boards dedicated to tasty treats for weddings. Create your own board and getting pinning!

It’s also worth keeping an eye on the best from the US too because so many of trends arrive on our shores after being big news in the US. Blogs such as Style Me Pretty, Green Wedding Shoes, Elizabeth Anne Designs and Ruffled are always good places to start and as well as looking at the real weddings, take a browse through their supplier directories to see what’s currently on offer across the pond.

Then there’s Instagram and our only warning here would be BE CAREFUL! Just sitting down to check out #weddingdesserts will lose you hours as you scroll through tens of thousands of images that will make your stomach rumble!

Things To Remember

When you’re selecting your wedding sweet treats, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Make sure that you’ve got alternatives for guests with food allergies or dietary requirements and that everything’s clearly noted, especially on dessert tables.
  • Speak to your caterers or providers to get a realistic sense of how many treats you’ll need for your guests. This amount will vary depending on what you’re serving and whether it comes before or after the wedding breakfast.
  • Foodie trucks and similar will probably need a solid, level place to park and some might need access to a power supply. Check this out before you book and liaise with your venue.
  • Ensure that all caterers and mobile suppliers have all the relevant food hygiene paperwork and that they’re full insured too.
  • Lastly, it’s absolutely crucial that you have a tasting session beforehand!
