Wedding food trends and drink inspiration

We’re continuing our wedding food and drink theme this month with a little look some of the latest trends in this area. Gone are the days of buffets and bog-standard menus and now, wedding food and drink is personal, innovative and super memorable (for all the right reasons!). If you’re looking to serve something a little different at your wedding then this is a feature to devour…

Street Food

If there’s been one foodie trend that’s taken the wedding world by storm of late, it’s street food. Do you want to serve up Chinese favourites or Mexican delights? If Indian snacks are your weakness, you’re in luck and wood fired pizza will always make you very popular with guests!

Dessert Tables

If you have a notoriously sweet tooth or simply can’t choose, a dessert station could be the perfect answer. Just imagine, tables full of sweet treats from cheesecakes and pies to mini trifles and even ice creams and cookies. These tables look amazing and are always emptied by appreciative guests!

The humble doughnut has become a wedding favourite! Doughnut walls are the wedding world’s new favourite things and these fab installations, hung with prettily coloured doughnuts are, in our opinion, utterly brilliant.

Gins & Craft Beers

Moving on from signature cocktails, cool couples are now setting up bars serving gins or craft beers. This is a fabulous way of including local tipples in your wedding and just imagine the fun that you can have testing your shortlist of drinks. Go on, it’s for the good of your wedding…

From ‘Pimp Your Prosecco’ stands to interactive food stations and ‘create your own’ tables, getting your guests involved with their food is a downright genius idea. Not only do these fun ideas get everyone talking but it also guarantees that guests will get exactly what they want.

Family Feasts

Whilst it’s an indulgent treat to be served your meal in style, you might want something that’s a little more relaxed. Family feasts could be the option. Big platters are served to each table and then everyone can help themselves. Great for large weddings (it’s quicker for caterers!), we just love feasting!

Bites & Sips

A new foodie trend from the US, Bites & Sips bring a whole new level of brilliance to wedding canapés. Each ‘bite’ is served with a corresponding ‘sip’ so imagine mini burgers or sliders with tiny mugs of beer, sushi with sake cups or even little cookies with milkshake shots!

The First Bite

Of course the BIG trend in wedding food and drink is with presentation and styling. Spend a little time on Pinterest and you’ll find hundreds of ideas that will make your wedding menu incredibly memorable – and that’s before anyone has even taken a bite!

Remember our interview with Goose and Berry last week?  Well we have an awesome shoot lined up with them that may just include a trend or two from here!

Until next time,
