Stress free wedding planning: choosing your wedding suppliers

So now you have your wedding dream team together with your bridal party and you have worked out the style of your wedding but the chances are unless you have a bridal party that are also cake makers, florists, stationers etc. you can’t pull your dream wedding off alone!  So you need a fab team of wedding suppliers which is why this we are going to talk about how to choose the right ones.

Choosing the right wedding suppliers who share your vision, your passion and who you actually like as people is crucial in creating a wedding that matches your style.  Liking them is something that couples don’t realise is important until it’s too late.  This is not just an everyday transaction, this is your wedding day so there are so many more emotions tied up with the decisions you’ll make.

Behind the scenes with your wedding suppliers

Now luckily, the wedding industry is full of suppliers who are passionate about their field and love weddings.  We’ve had the pleasure of working with amazing suppliers and we’ll be introducing you to some of them over the coming months.  All these suppliers have passion, creativity, care and dedication by the bucket load!

Aside from recommendations, how else can you find your suppliers? Well, there’s a good old Google search then there are wedding shows.  With weddings shows, go to the ones that best fit your style, there is no point going to an alternative vintage show if you are looking at having an ultra-modern urban wedding and vice versa.  I shared some tips on making the most of wedding shows back in February that you may want to take a look at.

Once you have a short list of wedding suppliers the best thing to do is to arrange to meet them, or at the very least have a detailed call or Skype.  In this meeting you can share your mood board (there are free tools online to create one or you can save some of the images you’ve seen on Pinterest).

Behind the scenes with your wedding suppliers

You’ll want to see examples of their work, hear about how they work and what’s involved.  But just as importantly you’ll be getting to know each other to see if you click.  And it’s that connection that can make or break a decision.  When we were planning our wedding, we came across a caterer who would only talk to Hutch and never responded to me, big no no which led us to find our awesome caterer!  However, when we went to see our florist (Swaffham Florist) Michelle and her team were instantly welcoming, completely got what we were after even though I knew next to nothing about flowers (sorry Mum) and we trusted her 100%.

It’s all about that connection with your wedding suppliers!

Of course, if the idea of planning a wedding or knowing how to style your wedding brings you out in a cold sweat then fear not!  There are wedding planners and stylsits that can help (and I’ll introduce you to some awesome ones in my wedding supplier series I promise…… Kate Cullen has already been on the blog).  Planners and stylists aren’t just for the rich and famous, they are like your fairy godmother of weddings and can actually stop you wasting money on poor decisions and styling choices.

I hope that’s helped a bit, next week we’ll talk about your wedding budget.

Until next time,
