Notting Hill Blossom Engagement Shoot | London Engagement Shoot

London in the Spring is one of my favourite times of the year, the blossom comes out, the sun is shining and everyone seems happier, this has been especially the case this year as we come out of restrictions and what felt like a long winter as a result.

Covid has had a lot to answer for, one of them being the missing of the blossom season last year, when we had so many shoots lined up with our couples, one of who was Hannah and Tom.  We had our plan, a blossom engagement shoot in Greenwich Park as they have an avenue of cherry blossom trees which is simply stunning…  And honestly, every year without fail it’s been in bloom the same weekend, so it was “fool proof”…  But noooo, 2021 had other ideas, in the days running up to the shoot, not a single bud could be seen!  But that’s ok, as one of the things I love doing is finding and sourcing locations, so I knew of another park, which on the Wednesday before our shoot on Good Friday was in full bloom, so we changed our plan and arranged to meet there in the morning, whilst it would still be quiet (I don’t know if you’ve ventured to blossom spots in London, get there early as they are popular spots and you’ll end up with lots of people in the background).

Hutch and I arrived a bit early, so we could scout out the best spots based on the light that morning, only to find that the blossom that had been there two days previously, had all blown off!  And this really is where I think my background in crisis management and contingency planning comes into its own in the wedding world – as I had further back up locations up my sleeve (yes, a back up for a back up!) and so a quick call to the couple, who were in the car on their way to divert them to Notting Hill – not the park vibe we were originally going for, but I knew that we’d still get stunning images…. take a look!

Simply gorgeous aren’t they!  I can’t wait for their wedding later this year at Hutton Hall.  Oh, and that sunshine I mentioned at the start of the spring, well it didn’t make an appearance and it was freezing cold, but we had beautiful morning light and Hannah and Tom were absolute stars and embraced the chill, and it definitely paid off.  A blossom engagement shoot for the win!

Take care,

Amanda x
