Inspired wedding food – something sweet
Hello my lovelies!
Those of you that know me will know that I am a sucker for something sweet. So today’s post in our wedding food series is all about the array of delicious sweet goodies that you could have on your wedding day. We’re not just talking cakes, although wow, there are some awesome cakes out there – our very own wedding cake was made by Rosie at The Looby Lou Cake Company, but we’re talking desserts, favours and general why not treats!
First though, let’s talk wedding cakes, of which I have a whole pinterest board dedicated to! There is so much choice and inspiration out there it may be hard to know where to start. So, step back, close your eyes and have a think about the type of cake you want, what do you picture? What’s your favourite flavour? What’s your wedding style? Got it? Then look at cake designers who match your vision, like with any other wedding vendor, it’s about finding the right match. So take a look at their portfolio and talk to them about your vision. I’m excited to be able to share some of the inspiration and advice from Lily Vanilli, an AMAZING cake designer in the near future so watch this space!
There are however alternatives to the “traditional” tiered wedding cake. Still on the sweet theme, I have seen gorgeous patisseries, mini cakes, sweet tables, popcorn, ice cream and chocolate covered fruit this year alone! I would also love to shoot a wedding with a donut wall, just like the ones I recently came across on The Knot!
However, I need to remember that not everyone shares my love of sugar and so it was this autumn when shooting at Millbridge Court that I saw this truly scrumptious looking cheese stack “cake”! So there really is something for everyone and you really can have whatever you like for your wedding day food.
I have to say a huge thanks to Lily Vanilli, The Looby Lou Cake Company, Kalm Kitchen, and Cole and Sons for their yummy treats, I know any couple who goes with one of these vendors will be happy!
Until next time,
Amanda x
