Inspired wedding food – behind the scenes with Kalm Kitchen
Well, this is the first in a series of posts showcasing amazing suppliers and ideas to inspire all your wedding food and drink needs! Today I want to introduce you to Kalm Kitchen. I had the pleasure of shooting behind the scene with them in October and have previously experienced them at a stunning Fetcham Park wedding earlier in the summer.
Kalm Kitchen prides themselves on designing and creating a wedding menu that is not only delicious (and trust me when I say their food is divine!) but also so beautifully styled and displayed it’s like art. I don’t want to spoil it too much as later in this series I’ll be showing you their canapés and wedding breakfast creations so you can see just how lovely their food is.
Kalm Kitchen is the catering partner for Millbridge Court, a simply gorgeous venue and they share the same passion for luxury and attention to detail. However, Kalm Kitchen also take their catering experience to other venues such as MC Motors in Dalton (a venue I would love to shoot at – if you’re planning a wedding there you may want to just take a peek at our bucket list) and many other gorgeous venues across the South of England.
I caught up with the lovely Jen Middlehurst (Kalm Kitchen Director) and asked her how they work with their couples:
“We have an initial planning meeting. This is an opportunity for couple to come and see us at KK HQ and really understand who we are. It also gives us an insight into what they dream of and how we can help fulfil some of, if not ALL of them. They would then have a tasting at a later date which is free of charge and offers them a fantastic opportunity to select canapés and course options of their choice and at that point, make a decision on using KK!”
It really is a collaboration between you as a couple and their team, you just know you’re going to be looked after!
Throughout the wedding at Millbridge Court where I shadowed the team, I was impressed with just how slick and professional the operation is, everything ran like a well-oiled machine and you could have heard a pin drop in the kitchen during service – this was certainly a far cry from certain kitchen scenes you see on TV!
The team were super friendly and when I arrived, Eloise quickly bought me up to speed before it was time to set up for the drinks reception. Despite it being October, the weather was sunny and fresh, one lucky bride and groom. As soon as the drinks reception had flown by it was time for the wedding breakfast and boy was my mouth watering. The menu was delish and I was delighted at the end of service when they plated up one of the mains for me. It was so yummy and a million times better than the service centre stop off I would have had otherwise have done for dinner.

As Jen had rightly said to me, Kalm Kitchen are trend setters not followers and to know they draw their inspiration from all sorts of avenues from fashion to design brands and nature, you can be sure that by choosing them to delivery your wedding food you are opting for something truly special and memorable.
I’m excited to see what 2016 brings for Kalm Kitchen and if Jen’s prediction of luxury meeting industrial design as a trend for weddings is anything to go by, I know it’s going to be another gorgeous wedding season.
