Injecting some creativity into your wedding food
We are huge food and drink lovers, going out for dinner, cooking meals together and having friends and family round to play host, features high in our lives outside of photography (and even within it!) So when it came to our wedding, a lot of thought went into the sort of food we wanted to serve, to make sure it reflected our favourite foods and to avoid people getting hungry throughout the day (this was a big concern for me and I had to be reined in a bit!) We went for a collection of substantial canapés with a bespoke tropical cocktail for our drinks reception and then wholesome (but beautifully presented) sausage and mash and a trio of delish desserts. Now unfortunately we don’t have any images of these, but I can promise the food was very well received by our guests and that was really important! For the evening we had large pans of paella as a nod to us getting engaged in Barcelona and an ice cream cart. Oooh it’s making my tummy growl just thinking about it.
With the weddings we’ve attended and photographed this year, it’s becoming more and more apparent that food is also high up on our couple’s wedding list. Gone are the days of the dry chicken breast with limp lustre vegetables, now couples are going for delicious takes on classics, fine dining quality and injecting creativity into their wedding food.
After talking to a colleague this morning about their wedding next year, I realised though that there are still a lot of couple’s out there who aren’t aware of the amazing options they have for their wedding food (and drink). So I am going to be writing a series of posts with you over the coming weeks to give you inspiration and insight into what you can do. I’ll not only be sharing ideas with you but getting behind the scenes with some amazing suppliers, seeing how they work and also asking them all about the delicious treats they design, create and serve to their customers, couples and patrons.
I’m excited about this series, it ties my love of weddings in with my love of food, plus I am going to be sampling some of these delights, it’s only fair so I can give you a true sense of what’s on offer in the world of wedding food and drink!
Until next time,
