Goose and Berry Weddings – A Q&A
As part of our March food and drink series we wanted to introduce you to the fabulous Goose and Berry Weddings (in case you’ve not already come across them!) They are masters at creating not only visually inspiring food but also extremely delicious! So much thought and attention to detail goes in to both the menu and the presentation of their food, to truly incorporate it into your wedding day. For us, food is such an important part of life and so it is not surprising that we get excited when couples put as much thought into their food as they do the rest of their wedding day.
So without further ado, here is Goose and Berry…
Tell us more about your business
Goose & Berry is a luxury and boutique catering and events company, that specialises in catering for and planning weddings, corporate and social events. Goose & Berry was founded 5 years about by Hannah Martin, with a love for good, local and seasonal food. Covering London and the Home Counties, we provide an elegant and fresh thinking approach to food and events, offering a whole range of services including all catering, planning, styling and management.
I (Emma Riddell) joined just over a couple of years ago to help manage the weddings and events side of the business; be it planning, styling or managing and running the event on the day.
What’s your favourite part of the job?
We get to work with so many amazing people, venues and some gorgeous ingredients. But I believe the best part of the job is seeing the smiling faces at the end of the event and knowing you have been a part in making someone so happy and making their day. You can’t help but smile and be happy too. It’s utterly rewarding and it really is the best feeling!
If you could give one piece of advice to couples, what would it be?
Good question! I think a key part to weddings and the planning of them, for any part, is to allow for enough time and most of all…don’t sweat the small stuff. Details are great but if you don’t have the time to do them, then don’t worry! Often guests remember the food, drink, music and overall atmosphere. Everything contributes to this but if something doesn’t look quite as perfect as you had hoped or the day is running a teeny but late, try not to worry. Guests often won’t notice and it really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things – as long as you, your partner and your guests are happy that’s all that matters.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given (about anything)?
It’s very much overused but it’s such a good one…Life is too short not to and the other is that you will never know until you try. Being positive or as much as possible is key and perhaps taking risks is the way forward. You should jump at opportunities, explore as much as possible and try because if you don’t you will never know if you could have done or been something amazing. Always push yourself and never give up – do I sound like a self-help book now? My grandmother always told me to never settle for anything less than your worth, which I think is so relevant to many parts of life. Always believe in yourself and what you do and the results will reveal themselves to you eventually.
Tell us a random fact about you
I adore musicals and ever since I was little have always wanted to be in the West End. Sadly I had to give up that dream but I have performed a solo in Disneyland Paris when I was at school. I think it’s fair to say I’m slightly on the luvvy side of life and can be quite theatrical and romantic, which can probably be seen in the work I produce.
Aren’t they just delicious!? We have an exciting shoot with Goose and Berry coming up in the next month or so and I cannot wait to share it with you. In the meantime, here are their various contact details / social media links:
Until next time,
