Fun and relaxed Westcliff Hotel wedding photography

It’s always an honour to be asked to photograph a friend’s wedding so when Ella and Paul booked us for their Westcliff Hotel wedding in September of last year I was over the moon. The Westcliff Hotel is located just outside of Southend, so as an Essex wedding photographer it was the perfect location for us, and right by the sea!

Ella and Paul met through work and at the time of their honeymoon in Las Vegas (how cool is that!) celebrated six years together. The proposal was simple but romantic, on Christmas Eve, after their traditional night out, when they got home, Paul got down on one knee in front of the Christmas tree and popped the question, and boy did he present Ella with the most amazing sapphire engagement ring.

Fast forward to the day itself and we had such a great time. The morning started with Ella and her bridesmaids getting ready at the hotel with a flurry of hair and makeup. I can only imagine that as Paul and his boys got ready in their home (complete with their gorgeous cats) there was probably a lot less hair and makeup going on but just as many laughs.

After the ceremony Ella and Paul treated their guests to ice cream in the sunshine, I mean, we were by the seaside after all. And whilst we were taking their couple portraits in the gardens below the hotel, we made sure they had time to enjoy an ice cream cone as Mr & Mrs.

The wedding itself has a dreamy colour scheme of blush, navy blue and gold and a delicious afternoon tea was served as their wedding breakfast. As Ella and Paul danced the night away with their guests, there were more giggles to be had with their photo booth.

Ella and Paul had a fab team around them on the day and picked great suppliers to pull the day together:
