Introducing floral designer and florist Emma Soulsby Flowers

Today I have the absolute pleasure of introducing you to Emma Soulsby Flowers, a hugely talented florist who I’ve worked with over the last year with amazing results.  Her passion and vision comes through in all of her designs and she creates true floral masterpieces!  On top of that, Emma is a true friend and inspiration in the business and part of our AKP Wedding Lounge community.  So without further ado, here she is!

Emma Soulsby Flowers, the creative process

Tell us more about Emma Soulsby Flowers?

Emma Soulsby Flowers is a luxury, bespoke floral design service tailored for couples who want fabulous, elegant, romantic flowers entirely uniquely designed to suit their Big Day.

As your floral designer I’m on hand to guide you through the whole process, every step of the way, to ensure that you have the floral arrangements you’ve always dreamed of! I understand that weddings can be a stressful process so I’m here to eliminate as much of that stress as possible by looking after you, not just your floral arrangements. Every client gets a personal mood board tailored to them, which is designed exclusively for their event or wedding. I personally order and collect the wedding flowers from the market to ensure each one is absolutely perfect. I then oversee the whole process. I’m involved in every step of arranging your floral arrangements, from conditioning every stem to styling them into your beautiful bespoke arrangements. I make sure that your flowers are treated with the utmost love, care and attention that they deserve. All of the flowers will be blooming at their optimum level on the Big Day; not too little, not too much, just right! I will be on site for all jobs to make sure that everything goes smoothly.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

Day One of the design process is my favourite day as it’s when I get to fall in love with my couples, and the event. Day One is such a creative, imaginative day as we start to think about what you want your floral arrangements to look like. I love coming up with an utterly unique arrangement which beautifully captures your character and personalities and the mood of your Big Day. Knowing that I have provided stunningly unique flowers which encapsulate who you are is truly priceless because I love to know all about the wedding. One of the aspects of the job that I enjoy the most is thoroughly getting to know the couples I am working with so that you are my inspiration for my floral creations. The flowers should flow and work with the couple and their venue, rather than being a separate entity stuck on at the end. My designs work seamlessly with you and your venue highlighting your personalities and the gorgeousness of your day.

If you could give one piece of advice to couples, what would it be?

If I was to give anyone some advice about planning their floral arrangements, and their wedding generally it would be to do as much research as possible. Research by yourself, or with a wedding planner (who will often give 2 or three options of suppliers), to ensure that all your suppliers, not just the florist, works in the style that you’re looking for. Instagram is perfect for this! Weddings are so visual it’s easy to see straight away if the supplier is a style match for you and your Big Day.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given (about anything)?

My motto in life is to give yourself credit where it’s due. Just because you find something easy, it doesn’t mean that it is… And never undersell your skills and abilities; you are uniquely you!

Tell us a random fact about you?

Unusually my background is actually in finance. Growing up I didn’t have a clue want I wanted to do. I thought about going to art school but eventually and rather randomly fell into finance. I spent years working and studying. I became a part qualified chartered accountant before deciding that I could only be happy doing a job I truly love, working with people and flowers!

Until next time,
