Introducing bridal accessories designer Debbie Carlisle
Once you have your dress sorted, it’s time to compliment it beautifully with bridal accessories. Think earrings, necklaces, and gorgeous hair accessories. And they don’t get any more gorgeous than those created by super talented and ever so lovely Debbie Carlisle.
Tell us more about your business?
I create unique ethereal handmade bridal accessories mixing elegant vintage style with a bohemian contemporary edge. Designs range from wedding hair accessories to bridal earrings, belts, cuffs and garters – as well as handmade brooch bouquets.
My latest collection, Wild Rose, is a gathering of wedding hairvines, combs and pins inspired by the botanicals and delicate vines and flowers of the meadows and hedgerows of the English countryside.
The designs have a deconstructed wild and natural feel which are designed to be mixed and matched to create your own unique look and can be ordered in three colourways – rose gold, gold or silver.
Other collections include Secret Garden, a striking yet delicate collection of sparkling wildflower-inspired trailing wedding hair vines, headbands, combs and hair pin, and Enchanted, which has a more muted whimsical sparkle.
I also create nostalgic designs which offer a beautiful tour through vintage wedding eras from 1920s deco-style designs through to the 1930s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s – perfect for brides looking for elegant vintage wedding accessories with a fashion-forward edge.
My vintage brooch bouquet designs are unrivalled in quality and style and are made to order from my Sheffield studio. The lavishly sparkling bespoke designs use vintage jewellery, buttons, crystals, pearls, beads and luxurious fabrics and have been commissioned by brides from all over the world. These unique bridal bouquets are designed to become family heirlooms to be treasured by generations to come.
What’s your favourite part of the job?
Actually making my pieces is hands down my favourite thing, it’s so therapeutic! Designing new pieces or creating bespoke designs for my brides is probably the most exciting bit – it’s such a thrill when you hit on the perfect design!
If you could give one piece of advice to couples (brides), what would it be?
Don’t try and do too much yourself – it’s very easy to get stressed when planning a wedding and piling on too many DIY jobs can really make this worse!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given (about anything)?
‘Be kind to yourself – treat yourself like you would treat a friend’.
Tell us a random fact about you?
Before I took up bridal accessory design I was a news editor on a busy evening newspaper – life couldn’t be more different now!
