A historic blue and cream Durham wedding
Today we’re taking a look back at a lovely Durham wedding we photographed earlier this year. We met Chelsea and Matthew for their engagement shoot in the summer after they won their wedding photography through Nu Bride’s birthday competition and we had such fun wondering along the Southbank taking in the sights (you can check it out here).
We’ve not photographed a Durham wedding before but wow what a gorgeous city, even in the rain! Chelsea and Matthew have a lot of ties to the city so it was lovely to be a part of that history and to capture their day for them. From the chapel ceremony to their Town Hall reception, there was so much dramatic character and architecture in this wedding there is no doubt that a Durham wedding is beautiful!
Soft touches of blue and cream filled this wedding, creating a more summery feel despite the rain outside, however the venue were great and let us onto their balcony to get some striking portraits of the happy couple and reminded us of why it’s important to have a rainy day plan for your wedding and something you should consider for your big day. Either making the most of the beautiful interiors of your venue or embracing the weather and going out with an umbrella and a relaxed attitude!
This wedding was put together with a super team of suppliers: Ceremony venue: Durham School Chapel // Reception venue: Durham Town Hall // Dress: Elite Bridal Outlet // Bridesmaid dresses: Herdress.co.uk // Suits: DQT and Primark // Shoes: New Look // Hair: Heidi Davis, Venus Hair & Beauty and Sirens, Durham // Flowers: Pots & Posies, Birtley // Cake: Amayesing Cakes // Entertainment: Premier Wedding DJ, Pelton // Catering: Jacob & Tori Caterers
Don’t forget, our UK collections include all UK travel, so we are happy to travel far and wide for our lovely couples.
Until next time,
