A festive Langley Abbey wedding

This stunning Langley Abbey wedding was my last wedding of 2014 whilst assisting the lovely Tatum Reid Photography. The sun was peeking between the clouds and the air was crisp, perfect for a winter wedding! This historic venue is steeped with character and as this is a sole use venue, your guests have lots of great spaces, nooks and crannies to mingle and explore.

Michelle and Russell embraced the time of the year and took on a Christmas style for their wedding, with a Christmas tree, decorations, candles and festive mulled wine it was two of my favourite events in one day – Christmas and a wedding! The ceremony was beautiful and during the signing of the register I witnessed (and caught on camera) the sweetest little kiss between two little ones.

The other real bonus of having a wedding at Langley Abbey is that Brasted’s provide the catering and ooh is that a treat, the food was absolutely delicious, my mouth is watering just thinking back to it. However, before they sat down for their wedding breakfast with their guests, they braved the rather chilly air (considerably colder than we have had this December) for their portraits and with the ruins in the ground, we were spoilt with having such a gorgeous backdrop for them.

Their wedding cake was elegant with the two cutest fir cone toppers, but as a surprise to Russell, Michelle had also arranged a second cake which was Lego inspired and boy was he pleasantly surprised, it sure looked cool!

As the guests partied into the night, we had a second chance to take some atmospheric and romantic photos of the newlywed couple amongst all the candles; it really is worth allowing extra time for your portraits. In the winter you can snuggle up by candle light as these two did and in the summer it gives you the opportunity to take advantage of that gorgeous golden light just before the sun sets.
